Brentford’s food scene is small, independent and quietly good, and the best way into it is on foot at the weekend.

Start on the High Street with a flat white and a pastry, then work west toward the canal. The produce to take home is on The Ham, where the greengrocer runs weekly veg boxes, and the loaf worth queuing for is the sourdough at The Brent Bakehouse.
